artistic achievements

LYT have survived in an economic wilderness, and however precarious our financial situation has been, we have flourished artistically speaking. Producing some outstanding achievements while maintaining the highest possible standards.

We have never limited our sights to ‘popular’ theatre. Rather we look at the best drama from all countries, periods, styles and genres.
LYT is proud of its diversity from Shakespeare, Sondheim & Stanislavski to Buchner, Beckett and Brecht.
Styles have encompassed German Expressionism, Naturalism and Realism, Musical Comedy, Revue, Theatre of the Absurd, Classical Theatre, and Devised
Spaces have equally been diverse including Proscenium Arch, Studio Theatre, Thrust, Promenade, Open-Air, A Circus Tent, Castles and Churches, A Car Park and even on the Beach.
Tour of the Castles in South Wales Kidwelly, Pembroke, Laugharne, and Caerphilly.
Open-air Shakespeare Tour of the Parks in Carmarthenshire
As part of the National Theatre Connections scheme LYT performed in the Sherman Theatre, Cardiff and Clwyd Theatre Cymru, Mold.
Commissioned to write new work to celebrate the life of Dylan Thomas: Buggerall , tour Carmarthenshire including Laugharne 2003
LYT has been the mother company of two further companies giving birth to Llanelli Stage Company in 1989 and Pukka Theatre in 1992.
Llanelli Stage Company was formed as an extension of Llanelli Youth Theatre, as so many members wanted to continue in an adult company aspiring to the same goals and high standards of LYT.
Pukka Theatre Company is a professional theatre for young people.
Pukka Theatre Company was formed to enhance our theatre in education commitments and also to provide opportunities for our members to work within the profession.
Pukka Theatre Company evolved naturally from the need to expand LYT, which includes Professional actors working alongside our members.
Forum Theatre established (2000) to tackle Community Issues, PSE & Social Problems
Forum Theatre Partnership with Youth Services, Welsh Association of Youth Clubs, Voluntary and Professional agencies throughout Carmarthenshire
    Forum Theatre Communities First Projects
Communities First Project, community youth arts project: Tin Can Elli at the Selwyn Samuel Centre
Strong links with schools across South West Wales .
LYT is a place where young people in Llanelli can learn the skills of theatre by qualified and trained staff.
